Lacus, means "lake" from the ancient Roman language is a wine which came from a long history of its grape Vernaccia Nera di Serrapetrona. Vernaccia, granaccia orGranache, all phonetic takes to the grape Cannonau (known asGrenache in France) paternity. Ancient Romans loved Cannonau and brought it to allMediterranean area. Vernaccia Nera is probably a variety born and becameautoctonous in Serrapetrona area, a small territory in the Sibillini Mountainsof Marche Region.

Vernaccianow gives a completely unique wine which cannot be made outside of this areabecause of the unique microclimatic traits of Serrapetrona. Since the Martinottivinification advent, Vernaccia Nera is typically vinified as a sparkling redwine. Lacus is the still wine interpretation of the grape which embraces the ancienttradition of full body and still wines.

Vinification is held in steel tanks before long aging in oak barriques. Theidea of the Podere Sul Lago winery is to bring back the ancient tradition of greatwines of Serrapetrona terroir, high lighting the character of the Vernaccia Nera. Lacusis the best representation of Vernaccia Nera wines giving its own uniquespicey tones, a strong elegant and a velvety full body. A wine suitable to bedrunk right now or to discover its possibilities in long aging.
